The Me Story

"I wish there was a way to know you were in the good old days before you've actually left them."

Well hello!

It was nostalgia that first drew me to photography, and then secondarily, to the idea of storytelling at large. It was this idea that created in me the basis for my philosophy about what my work should do:

Every image should tell a story.

The posed images tell a story of honoring tradition. The candid images tell the story of the unspoken communication between two souls. The detail images tell a story about the effort that went into your big day. The family photos tell a story of heritage and belonging. The rest tell the love story you'll be crawling in to bed beside for the rest of your life.

There is no one size fits all wedding (please ask me about all three times I married my husband, honestly) because there are no two people and no two connections that are alike. It's my job to find what makes you special and put it in a jar for later.

Behind the Curtain:

First and most importantly, I am a photojournalist. Most of my images will be minimally posed and minimally directed and instead I'll use the space and the people within it to set the tone for me. That means lots of your gallery will be candid, unprompted images of your day, exactly how it happened.

However, I do have a background as a studio professional so when it's time to bring out the tools of the trade, I'll create the editorial imagery we've collaborated on in advance. A few poses and a few prompts and we'll get those images you'll want to hang on your wall forever. (Please print your photos, y'all.)

I shoot and edit true to color, which is not only my stylistic preference, but also a way to encourage authenticity in my work. All photography sits on the spectrum between airy and moody and I endeavor to sit directly center court.

Technical Specs:
I'll shoot on two camera bodies and a variety of lenses. My personal preference is to prime lenses (as opposed to zoom lenses) because it makes me move my feet more! I hustle hard on a wedding day and I also play really hard on a wedding day.

Each camera I shoot with will have two memory cards - one of which is purely backup. All professional cameras have the opportunity to shoot to dual slots as a way of immediately backing up every image. I'll show up with duplicates of most things in my kit to make sure we're not taking any time to troubleshoot. I will also show up with snacks.

On average (please note, this is not a guarantee), your 8 hour wedding day coverage will result in a minimum of 500 images. Looking for more? Consider longer coverage time or a second shooter!

Fun Facts:

My husband and I really did have three celebrations - a private ceremony with just our families, a 110 person reception, and then a vow renewal on our six year anniversary in Lake Como, Italy, which was where I originally wanted to get married until I realized my dog couldn't be there. My sweet puppy was by my side at our OG wedding in 2019 but has since passed.
If you were to ask me how I'd plan a wedding now, I'd say either elope to Northern Italy (I actually recommend Lake Garda over Lake Como, ask me about it) OR get married in the Union Colony Civic Center in costume on the stage (someone please do this and invite me).

I'm a big Denver Nuggets gal - I even gifted myself season tickets. So if you reach out and don't hear back right away, blame the bad service in Ball Arena!
I've traveled all over but my favorite place on earth is Aspen (CO native, I fear it's just in my blood).
I own socks that say "I'm not bossy, I'm the boss."
